Frequently Asked Questions

When can I book my cruise?

Anytime after sign up is completed and the 1st payment made. You have up to 24 months to book your cruise.

Can I cancel or pause my subscription?

With Local Mates you can always pause or cancel your subscription whenever you need to. If you haven't got any travel booked with us cancellations and pausing are effective immediately, for those who have a trip booked the subscription will end as soon as your trip has been paid for. If you cancel - the weeks paid are non refundable., if you pause the weeks paid will be held until you restart the subscription.

Can I subscribe from Overseas?

Our subscriptions are designed predominantly for those living in New Zealand due to the non-refundable nature, however, anyone living abroad can sign up too. Living in New Zealand gives flexibility to transfer to another date should a cancellation due to unsafe weather occur.

How do I book my cruise?

Once you're all signed up we'll send you an email with a gift voucher. Head to our website and enter the voucher code at the time of booking. Its that simple

What activities are included?

There is a wide range of activities on offer, from fishing to kayaking, night swimming to nature watching. Paddle Boarding, snorkeling, guided island walks, target shooting, star gazing and all your meals are included in your overnight trip.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Luckily for us the Bay of Islands is well protected. However if the skipper decided the weather conditions are unsafe to cruise we will cancel the cruise for safety reasons. If this happens we will reissue you with a promo code to rebook on another date. In the last 100 cruises we have had to cancel 1 cruise due to unsafe weather conditions.
